USD Currency Converter & Exchange Rate Calculator
Convert dollars to foreign currencies or back using an exchange rate you supply. Compare provider quotes, estimate fees, and see the calculation—not a guessed live quote.
1. Convert USD and foreign currency
Important: Rates are NOT fetched automatically. Enter a current quote from your bank or a trusted exchange-rate provider, and record its date. The rate is defined as foreign currency units per 1 USD.
The model subtracts both fees from the source amount before converting. Actual banks and money-transfer services may use a different fee sequence, an exchange-rate markup, minimums, or intermediary charges.
2. Compare two exchange-rate quotes
Enter two quotes in the same direction (foreign currency units per USD) to see the difference on a given USD amount. This is a rate-only comparison and excludes transfer fees.
What makes an exchange rate useful?
A rate is only meaningful with a currency pair, direction, timestamp, and provider. A mid-market rate shown on a financial website is often different from the rate a bank or payment app actually offers you. A small difference in the quoted rate can matter significantly on large transfers.
Use the calculator to verify arithmetic for a quoted rate, then compare the final amount the provider says the recipient will receive. A transparent quote includes all fees and any conversion spread.

Before exchanging money: a practical checklist
A converter is a calculation tool, not a guarantee of what your bank, card network, or transfer service will deliver. To evaluate a quote, first record the currency pair, the rate direction, the quote date, and whether the quoted rate is a reference rate or the rate actually available to you.
- Get the provider's executable quote. A market reference rate may differ from the customer rate.
- Check the direction. If a quote says 1 USD buys 0.90 EUR, multiply dollars by 0.90 to estimate euros before fees; to estimate dollars from euros, divide by 0.90.
- Include the complete cost. Check fixed transfer charges, percentage charges, exchange-rate markup, card foreign transaction fees, and recipient-bank charges.
- Compare recipient amounts. Two services can advertise the same fee yet deliver different amounts because their exchange rates differ.
- Confirm timing. Rates and fees may change between an estimate and an executed transaction.
Example: On $2,000, a quote of 0.9000 EUR per USD yields €1,800 before fees. A quote of 0.8750 yields €1,750. That €50 difference matters even if both providers advertise a zero-dollar transfer fee. These are hypothetical examples, not current exchange rates.
What this calculator does—and does not do
USDConverters helps you check arithmetic using rates you enter, estimate simple source-side fees, and compare two quotes. It does not retrieve real-time prices, initiate transfers, or predict future exchange rates. Its simplified fee model may differ from your provider's actual fee order. For detailed assumptions see Methodology and for step-by-step cases see Worked examples.
